This is a short story that I have written for the Competition held in my Company….Subject is a photo with a small girl smiling.
Once upon a time there lived a poor but happy small family. The family had 3 members in it., the father Muniyappa, mother radhamma and their newly born…cute, sweet and chubby cheeked daughter Meena. The family was just economically poor but was rich by heart, feelings, love, care, relationships and dreams.
Muniyappa, the only earner of the family was a fisherman and he hardly used to get money out of his work. Radhamma was also a strong woman, helping her husband by looking after the house, baby and also motivating him, filling strength in him by her words of courage!!. Both of them loved their daughter Meena to the limit, she was their life, their ambitions and their dreams.
They lived together in a small hut near a sea shore. Muniyappa was a very ambitious person in life; he never used to lose his hope against anything. In his life he had one and only great desire, and that is too make his daughter a graduate, and he wanted her to be a very respectable person in the society. Muniyappa shared his dreams and ambitions with his neighbors also. But for this dream to come true, he didn’t had enough money. He began to think seriously about the same and finally, he decided to give it a best shot this time.
He decided to get into the deep blue sea in search of valuable pearls. Only these valuable pearls can earn him enough money to make his dream come true. One fine morning he made his move with his wife, who can help him out to pull him up once he is done with picking pearls. They handed over their 6 month baby to their neighbor to take care. The couple got some pearls in their journey, but unfortunately, those were not of type which can make his money, he decided to go still in deep to the abyss to get the big and beautiful pearls. But fate played game with them, a huge storm and the hurricane dragged them out of the world.
Alas!!…Both got drowned completely into the ocean.
Here the unaware neighbors and the innocent child waited for a long time. With no sign of them coming back, they decided that the parents were dead. It’s an unfortunate for them and they didn’t know what to do about the child and also they were not wealthy enough to take care of the baby themselves. They thought to admit the child to one of the finest child care center “GEETHASHRAM” – an orphanage house where such kids and physically challenged kids are taken into care. Meena was bought up with other such orphans, sharing the love and care by the ashrama management. Samsung India (SISO seva committee) is one of the biggest software firms which donates regularly to this ashrama as a charity purpose. Samsung conducts so many activities, trainings for children present here in ashram. Meena, actively participated in all those activities and use to win prizes.
But still, she was disappointed that she couldn’t fulfill her father’s dream, which she came to know from their neighbors.
Samsung being one of the major contributors to the charity, on identifying her activeness and her courage decided to take care of her complete education expenditure. This made Meena’s first step towards her success. She got the meaning of the great saying “Where there is Will. There is a Way”.
With this golden opportunity she started going to school, she studied very hard and she topped the class every year. Her determination and dedication to her way never got reduced; instead, it was getting better and better day by day.
Meena, on her SSLC Public Exam topped the state .She has achieved 1st Rank and her photo got printed in all the leading newspapers. She looks very happy as she is getting near in making her father’s dream to come true. She is now joining under graduation and she is very much eager to join some engineering course. Samsung India is also proud to fund such a brilliant student and is looking forward in making her career bright and fruitful. She is thankful to Samsung in providing their extended support for her education.
All which starts with pain finally ends in gain
